A little about me…

Welcome New Friends! I’m Chelsey Miller, the proud founder of Black Dog Enterprise, LLC. They say it’s important to share a little about myself, my journey and how all of that, has brought me… US here today!

I’ve always had a passion for building things, a love that likely started with Legos as a child and evolved into crafting furniture, building doghouses, and learning the art of installing trim. Growing up, my father, a builder and developer, introduced me to the world of homebuilding, and I was eager to learn. After high school, I worked as a superintendent for my father. By the time I was 18, I was an associate member of the Home Builders Association of Louisville  (now the Building Industry of Louisville). Later, I transitioned into commercial construction, where I spent nearly a decade as an estimator with one of Louisville’s Top 50 construction companies, further honing my skills and deepening my industry knowledge.

Starting Black Dog Enterprise feels like coming home—something I always knew I’d return to when life gave me the opportunity. Over the past 20 years, I’ve accumulated a wealth of knowledge in construction, and while my career has been fulfilling, I realized I wasn’t able to pass down that knowledge in the way it has been shared for centuries—through hands-on experience and mentorship. As a single mother, I couldn’t shake the thought that I wasn’t offering my son the same chance to learn about construction that shaped my own life and success. Now, a preteen, this realization drives this endeavor.

When I'm not working and developing new house color pallets, I’m "Mom" at least 50% of the time. I enjoy spending time with my German Shepherd, Lincoln, and I’m enjoy hiking, kayaking and being outdoors. Nature is my ultimate recharge. We try to embrace the Jamaican approach, that "There are no problems, only situations," because every situation has a solution. We carry this "don’t panic" mindset in everything we do.

I hope this gives you a little insight into who I am. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email address on our Contact Us page. Thanks again, friends—safe travels!
